COINS OG MAGNA GREECE 6th - 3rd Century b.C

A SUPERB COLLECTION MINTED ACCORDING TO THE ANCIENT COINING PROCESS OF FREE STRIKING

The art of minting was developed in ancient Greece, as most of arts, during the 7th century b.C. An extremely hard and detailed technic was employed by the artist who was engraving negatively the designs into both dies made of copper alloy.

STAGE A
The craftsman takes a heated blank (piece of metal) from the kiln.
STAGE B
He places the blank of metal heated as it is on the anvil where is already fixed the observe die (B) of the coin.
STAGE C
He positions the upper die (A) (the one depicting the reserve of the coin)
STAGE D
With a hammer he stamps the upper die (A) into the blank of metal. Thus the coin is simultaneously struck both sides and modelled.

A luxurius case is sent with the third "big coin". The case has 24 sockets for the coins plus one socket (up on the left) for the "Turtle" that you will receive free with the first coin.
